Chapter 4

One month later,

It has been a month since Avni is working in Life Care Hospital and staying away from her family.

She had learnt many things from her seniors in the past one month,but life had become hectic,maybe this is what we called a Doctor’s life.

This month,many times she had to do night shifts as well.

Today, she and other interns were asked to do an assignment on the upcoming surgery,on which basis they will get the chance to work in the surgery under Dr Shivansh.

Avni was very excited about this and can't wait to work in the operation theatre for the first time.

After they submitted their assignment, Shivansh called her and other interns in his office to announce the result.

“ Tomorrow who is going to assist me in surgery is Dr Gourav….he is the only one who has barely fulfilled my criteria ... .But others had really disappointed me, especially Dr Avni…”, he said, looking at Avni with judging eyes.

Avni was confused when she heard him. She doesn't think she has done anything wrong.

“ I didn't get you Sir”, She asked him, gaining a little courage.

“ Is this how you are supposed to work?? What a stupid explanation you have written... .I don't know how you became a doctor ... .I mean you don't even know basic answers…..”, He said, getting angry.

Everyone in the room got confused hearing him but someone in the room had a smirk on his lips.

“ Sir…I think there is some misunderstanding”, Avni said,not knowing what he is talking about.

“ Misunderstanding ... .there is no such misunderstanding…..read what you have written in the document…”, he said, throwing the documents on her face, humiliating her.

Avni picked those documents and saw it was not her assignment but her name was mentioned in it.

“ Sir, it's not mine. I…”, Avni tried to explain herself.

“ Stop lying and get out of here…submit a new assignment tomorrow morning and now you are free to go..…”, Shivansh said angrily, asking her to get out of his cabin.

Avni looked around and saw everyone looking at her.

She felt humiliated and left the cabin without saying anything else.

As soon as she left the cabin, she felt tears falling from her eyes.

She left the hospital and sat on the bench, outside the hospital, crying.

She was feeling sad because he insulted her without hearing her explanation. Moreover she was thinking,who had changed her assignment and why??

She was missing her family badly. For the first time in her life, someone had talked to her so badly.

She was crying badly while remembering her humiliation.

Suddenly she saw a tissue in front of her. She took the tissue and wiped her tears. She looked upwards and saw a middle aged woman standing in front of her.

“ Thank you”, Avni said to the lady.

“ You are welcome”, the lady said and sat beside her on the bench.

“ If you don't mind,Can you tell me why you are crying, pretty girl??”, the woman asked her.

“ Nothing”, Avni said, wiping her tears which had started dripping again.

“ Are you sure?? You can tell me, maybe I will be able to help you?”, the woman said to her.

“ Nothing!! It's just that for the first time, someone had scolded me in front of everyone and it was not even my mistake”, Avni said, complaining.

“You know I have submitted the right assignment but I don't know how it got changed. And that Dr Devil scolded me so badly.I felt very humiliated”, Avni said, complaining.

“ Dr Devil?”, the lady asked her.

“ The one and only Dr Shivansh. Who else can be named this except him?? Anger is always on his nose, stupid Dr Devil”, Avni said,in an angry tone.

The lady laughed hearing her, which put a smile on Avni's face as well.

“ Thank you so much for listening to me. I felt so much relaxed after talking to you”, Avni said to the lady thanking her.

“ You are welcome. I am happy to help you. Besides, beautiful girls don't look good while crying”, the lady said, giving her a sweet smile.

Avni gave her a smile, feeling like she is talking to someone close to her.

“Are you here to meet someone?? I am an intern here. Please let me know if I can help you anyhow”, Avni said to her, wanting to help her.

“ I am not here to meet anyone…I work here”, the lady told her, making Avni confused since she had not seen her before.

“ Here?? But I haven't seen you before?? In which department do you work?”, Avni asked the lady.

“ Let me introduce myself properly ... .I am Dr Bhavna Oberio, Life Care hospital’s M.D and a neurologist. And I forgot to tell you,I am the mother of your Dr Devil mentor”, the lady said, giving her an innocent look.

Avni got shocked knowing her identity. She was looking at Bhavna Oberio with widened eyes.

Bhavna giggled seeing her shocked expressions.

“ I am really sorry Mam…I didn't mean…I am not the one who had named him Dr Devil….”, Avni said, trying to explain.

Avni felt embarrassed in front of her. She was cursing herself for talking to a stranger without thinking anything.

“ It's okay dear. I don't mind and you don't need to feel guilty. I am a very good listener so you can tell me anything. And I don't mind if you want to complaint about my Devil son”, Bhavna said, giving her a wink

Avni was looking at her with embarassing face, trying to understand her personally. She was shocked seeing her friendly nature towards her.

Bhavna stood up to go back to her work.

“ One more thing,when it comes to opportunities, some people don't hesitate to backstab their friends. So beware of these fake friends”, Bhavna reminds her before going back to her work.

Avni was sitting there, remembering what Dr Bhavna had said.

She tries to rewind everything in her mind about what had happened today.

Something clicked in her mind and she decided to investigate tomorrow morning.

Since it was getting late,she decided to leave for her house.

As soon as she reached home,she got a call from her father.

She calmed her emotions and picked his phone.

“ Hey Dad!!”, she said,with a smile on her face.

“ How is my princess?”, He asked her.

“ I am good,Dad!! What about you?”, She asked him.

“ I am good. Are you really okay??”, he asked her.

“ Of Course Dad!! What is going to happen to me?”, she asked in a chirping voice.

“ Okay!! Tell me how is your hospital going?”, he asked her.

They talked for a few minutes before hanging up the call.

In the Raghuvanshi Mansion,

Adhiraj was sitting in his study, thinking about something.

“What happened Adhiraj?”, Mira asked him, entering his study.

“ Nothing!! When I was talking to Avni, I felt something was not right. She was sounding a little dull”, Adhiraj told her.

“ Maybe she was tired. After all, she had to work twelve hours a day. Let her rest for the night and call her tomorrow. If she still sounds low, we will go to meet her”, Avni told him.

“ Hmm”, Adhiraj said, agreeing with her.

He had messaged the guards who are in Mumbai to protect Avni and had asked them about if something had happened to Avni but they hadn't seen anything suspicious.

“ Maybe Mira is saying the right thing and I am overthinking”, Adhiraj thought to himself.
