Writer's p.o.v

After getting ready, Vanya reached her office since she had an important meeting to attend.

“ How are you?” Arnav asked, seeing dark circles under her eyes.

“ I am okay. Did he wake up?” Vanya asked him about Ahuja.

“ No!! He had drunk a lot last night. Moreover you had hit him hard. I don't think he will be up for the next few hours”, Arnav informed her.

“ Hmmm”, Vanya replied, lost in her thoughts.

Vanya was doing her work when she got a call from some unknown number

“ Hello”, Vanya said, picking up the call, writing something on the notebook.

“ Vanya beta”, She heard a familiar voice from the other side. It was none other than Rohini Khurana.

“ Yes!! Who is speaking?” Vanya said, as her hold tightened over the pen.

She had recognised Rohini’s voice but she still pretended like she didn't.

“ Rohini Khurana, your grandmother”, Vanya heard her.

“ You are mistaken, Mrs Khurana. I don't have a grandmother”, Vanya said, coldly.

“ Don't say like this”, Vanya was able to feel her helplessness from her voice.

“ Why did you call me?” Vanya asked, not wanting to talk more.

“ Can we meet today?” Rohini asked her, softly.

“ I am sorry,Mrs Khurana but I am busy today”, Vanya said, denying her.

“ Please beta. Just for a few minutes”, Rohini requested.

Vanya went silent for a few seconds, before agreeing.

“ Okay!! Let's meet during lunch time”, Vanya said to her, before hanging up the call.

“ Now what does she want from me??” Vanya thought, looking at her mobile phone.

During lunch time,

Vanya went to the restaurant to meet her grandmother.

As she reached the private table, she saw Manish Khurana and Rohini Khurana sitting there.

“ Vanya beta”, Rohini said, getting emotional, seeing her in front of her eyes.

She took a step towards her to embrace her but Vanya took her steps back, maintaining the distance.

Her grandmother, Rohini, felt a pang in her heart seeing her like this.

“ What do you want to talk about?” Vanya asked without changing her expressions.

“ Let's sit and talk further”, her grandfather, Manish, said to them.

Vanya sat opposite to them, waiting for them to start talking.

“ Vanya, we want you to come back to your family”, Rohini said, looking at her with hopeful eyes.

“ Family??” Vanya said, giving a sarcastic chuckle.

“ I think you are mistaken, Mrs Khurana. I don't have a family here”, Vanya said, circling her finger over the top of the glass.

“ Vanya, don't say this. We are your family. I am your grandmother”, Rohini said to her softly, as tears started gathering in her eyes.

“ Grandmother?? Interesting. You are saying that you are my grandmother but I didn't see you stopping your son from throwing an 8 year old girl from his house. I didn't see you coming to meet me in these years. I didn't see you inquiring about my wellness. You never turned back in those years, never worried whether I am dead or alive then why care now??”, Vanya said, raising her voice in front of her. grandmother, blaming her for never caring for her in the past.

“ Keep your voice down Vanya”, Manish Khurana said, seeing his wife crying and hearing his granddaughter’s harsh words.

“ Firstly, you weren't thrown out of the house, you were just sent away. You know the reason very well and I don't think you have the right to question it since it was your mistake. Moreover it's not like we send you to some random place. We send you to your Ridhima Masi(aunt), your mother’s sister, who had loved you like her own child. Gautam had never denied his responsibilities as a father. He had always taken care of your needs. He had sent money for your upbringing to Ridhima every month till you ran away from Ridhima’s house with your little lover. So don't you dare talk to your grandmother like this ever again”, Manish Khurana said, angrily to Vanya.

He can handle anything, but not tears in his wife's eyes.

“ You think as a family, your responsibility was to just provide me money and nothing more??” Vanya questioned them, without showing any weakness under her grandfather's dominating gaze.

“ You trust others more than your own blood and then talk about our blood relations. What a hypocrite”, Vanya said, in a disgusted tone as she stood up from the chair.

“ Vanya Khurana”, they heard a voice and saw Digvijay Goenka standing there, his face showing how furious he was hearing her words.

“ Digvijay beta”, Rohini and Manish said, seeing him in front of them.

He came near their table and stood right in front of her, trying to intimidate her with his imposing body and cold aura. But who was Vanya? How can she easily be intimated by him??

“ How dare you talk to Manish dadu and Rohini dadi like this??” Digvijay asked her, with a rage filled voice.

“ I don't think I need to answer your questions, Mr Goenka”, Vanya said, giving him a fake big smile.

Then she turned towards her grandparents and said, “ If this is what you want to talk about then hear me loud and clearly…. I am not going to come back to that family, not now, not in future.”

Vanya announced her decision and left from there without caring about anything, not even her grandmother’s tears.

Digvijay saw her indifference with his eyes and he also saw tears in his Rohini dadi’s eyes, making him clenched his jaw.

For him, there is no difference between his Priya dadi and Rohini dadi. He had always loved them equally.

For him, both Goenka and Khurana families are his family.

“ Don't cry Rohini”, Manish said, comforting his wife who was crying badly, seeing her granddaughter's hate towards their family.

Digvijay and Manish took her back home.

As they entered the house, everyone was shocked seeing Rohini’s tears.

“ What happened, Maa?? Why are you crying?”, Vanya’s Chachi and Digvijay’s Bua, Anushka, asked her mother-in-law.

“ She needs to rest. We will talk later”, Manish, Vanya's grandfather, said as he took his wife to their room.

He made her sleep somehow. He felt helpless seeing the dry tears on her face.

“ That's why, I didn't want you to go and talk to Vanya. You know I can't handle it if someone talks to you with disrespect”, Manish said, caressing his wife's face.
